VIFOTEC award presented to scientific innovators

The Vietnam Fund for Scientific and Technological Creations (VIFOTEC) award was presented to 39 winners of the 2009 competition for technical creativity in Hanoi on April 15.

The winners were announced by the Vietnam Union of Scientific and Technological Associations (VUSTA). They were selected from 105 entries in six categories – information technology and telecommunications, mechanics and automation, materials technology, environmental protection technology, energy saving technology, and applied biology.

Of the award winners, four won first prize, 10 second prize, 12 third prize, and 13 consolation prize. A female scientist was singled out by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for her innovation in water drainage and environmental protection.

Since the first VIFOTEC competition in 1995, nearly 2,000 scientists have been awarded.
