Vietnamese goods face new anti-dumping lawsuits in US

US manufacturers have sued Vietnamese producers for dumping their steel wire garment hangers in the US.

The VORYS Law Firm, representing US producers, submitted the anti-dumping (AD) and Countervailing duties (CVD) petition to the US Department of Commerce (DoC) and the US International Trade Commission on December 29, demanding investigation into the case.

The US manufacturers charged the Vietnamese hangers with dumping margins ranging between 83 and 160 percent.

This is the third time Vietnamese exports have faced anti-dumping and anti-subsidy lawsuits simultaneously following suits of plastics bags and steel pipes.

The case has received warnings since mid-2010 when Chinese businesses were moving to Vietnam to manufacture hangers for export to the US and dodge taxes.

On the same day, the Vietnam Competition Authority received notice of a US anti-dumping lawsuit against made-in-Vietnam wind turbines, which were charged for 60 percent tax margin.

According to US law, the DoC will complete its investigations and make a final decision within 20 days of receiving the petition. – VOV
