Vietnam wishes to deepen ties with Indonesia
The bilateral relations between Vietnam and Indonesia is governed by the Joint Declaration on the framework of friendly and comprehensive partnership in the 21st century signed in June 2003.
The two leaders also reached consensus on boosting cooperation in rice production to ensure food security in each country as well as the whole region.
Regarding the East Sea issue, PM Dung said that ASEAN needs to expand efforts to secure peace, stability, security, and maritime safety in the East Sea.
Both the host and the guest stressed the importance of accelerating the implementation of the Declaration of the Conduct of parties in the East Sea (DOC) while speeding up the development of the Code of Conducts in the East Sea.
At the meeting, PM Dung highly appreciated Indonesia’s good treatment to Vietnamese fishermen on the basis of humanity and friendship. Both sides agreed to instruct relevant agencies of the two countries to exchange concrete measures to put an end to the issue.
Effective measures include lucrative implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on marine and fisheries cooperation signed in October, 2010, and acceleration of the negotiations on delimiting the exclusive economic zone between the two nations, the two leaders said.
On the occasion, PM Dung congratulated Indonesia on successful organization of the 18th ASEAN Summit, affirming Vietnam’sactive support for Indonesia to fulfill the ASEAN Chair in 2011. – VGPNews
