Vietnam unemployment rate decreases to 2.27% in 2011
Vietnam’s unemployment rate of employees in working age is estimated at 2.27% in 2011, down 0.61% from 2010, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said.
Urban areas record 3.6%, down 0.69% from a year earlier, rural areas record 1.71%, down 0.59%, GSO added.
In 2011, Vietnam’s rate of employment shortage for employees in the working ages was down to 3.34% from 3.57% in 2010. Of which, urban areas posts 1.82%, unchanged from 2010 and rural areas posts 3.96%, down 0.3% from a year earlier.
The Southeast Asian country is estimated to have a total of 87.84 million population in 2011, up by 1.04% compared to 2010. Of which males accounted for 43.47 million (49.5% population), up 1.1% from 2010 and female accounted for 44.37 million (50.5% population), up 0.99%.
The labor force aged 15 years or older in 2011 was 51.39 million, up by 1.97% from 2010. The labor force in the working age was 46.48 million, up by 0.12%.
