Vietnam to Host ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting in December

Vietnam will host the 15th ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting (ATM 15) and the 28th ASEAN Senior Transport Officials Meeting (STOM 28) in Hanoi between December 7 and 11, the government said on its website.
At these meetings, officials from ASEAN countries will discuss programs and plans to boost the regional transport cooperation, aiming to build the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015.

The discussions will focus on ways to increase transport service liberalization as well as favorable conditions for border-across transport in the region.
On the sideline of the events, there will be meetings between ASEAN countries and the dialogue partners of China, Japan and South Korea on the transport cooperation.
The ASEAN nations are expected to sign the Multilateral Agreement for the Full Liberalization of Passenger Air Services (MAFLPAS), a memorandum of understanding on maritime accident inspection and a protocol on air transport services on this occasion. (chinhphu.vn)
