Saigon Trading Group (Satra), one of Vietnam’s leading retailers, estimates it had revenues of VND13.3 trillion in the first half of 2010, fulfilling 53% of its whole-year target.

The group’s profit surged 87% on-year to VND1.8 trillion in H1 while its export values fell 17.2% on-year to $47.5 million.

Satra outlined a plan to build a distribution center and expand its distribution network in industrial parks and processing zones in the first half and developed a SatraMart chain in order to boost its trading activities in the next years.

In mid-May 2007, Phu Thai Distribution Group, Satra, Hapro, Saigon Co.op jointly launched the Vietnam Distribution Network Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (VDA), the biggest of its kind in the country, aiming to enhance their competitiveness and the ability of distributors to fend off the expected influx of global rivals in post-WTO.
