A Commercial Counsellor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand has indicated that Vietnam could do more export trade in the country. Nguyen Thanh Hung said that export growth to Thailand rose by 51 percent in 2011, whilst import rose by only 30 percent and pointed out that fruit was amongst exported goods that had been well circulated, even in less well developed areas.
Aiding the potential of Vietnamese agricultural produce is the fact that Thailand’s ability to produce its own fruit has been affected by recent flooding, thus increasing the demand for imported goods.
Vietnamese growers are amongst businesses invited to attend trade missions and exhibitions in Thailand with a view to raising their profile in the country.
