The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has submitted to the government a scheme on advertising Vietnam’s tourism on CNN, said Pham Huu Minh, Head of Tourism Promotion Department.

Under this scheme, Vietnam will pay US$400,000 for a 30-second advertising clip to be broadcast for three months on the famous CNN channel. The clip will be broadcast several times each day during “golden hours” of CNN. Mr. Minh said that CNN had agreed to make the clip free of charge (worth around $40,000-$50,000). If the government approves, the clip will be broadcast on CNN in the third quarter of 2007.

In the first four months of 2007, Vietnam welcomed more than 1.4 million foreign visitors, an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period of 2006.
