Vietnam, India meet to increase trade

Vietnam and India have discussed measures to further boost bilateral trade and investment as both want to fully tap their existing potential.

The discussion took place during Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang’s visit to India on Dec. 7-8.

Hoang held talks with Indian counterpart Anand Sharma.

He also conducted working sessions with executives from giant groups, including the Tata Industrial, ONGC Videsh, the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Confederation of Indian Industries, and the Vietnam-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The two-way trade between Vietnam and India has surged in the recent time, hitting a value of 2.5 billion USD in 2008.

Despite global economic and financial crisis impacts, the two countries’ trade is expected to reach 2.5 billion USD this year and is forecast to rise to 3 billion USD in 2010.
