Vietnam Grants Honorary Doctorate to Former U.S. Trade Representative

Director of Hanoi National University Mai Trong Nhan presented an honorary doctorate to Former U.S. Trade Representative, Prof. Susan Schwab on the occasion of her presentation at the university on Nov. 30.

Susan Schwab is the U.S.’s famous trade policy maker in the fields of industry, agriculture, services, investment, intellectual property, environment and labor.

During her four-day trip to Vietnam to be ended Dec. 3, she will also work with the Vietnamese government, officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Industry and Trade and chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

She will chair two international seminars in Hanoi on Dec. 1 and in Ho Chi Minh City on Dec. 3 to discuss measures to help Vietnamese firms to boost exports to the U.S. market.

The U.S. was Vietnam’s largest export market and the biggest FDI investor in the first nine months of this year with respective figures of US$8.197 billion and US$3.96 billion. (New Hanoi, VNS)
