Vietnam EVN capital demand forecast at VND60T this year

The state-run Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) is projected to need nearly VND60 trillion (US$3.077 billion) to invest in its various projects this year.

The figure is 2.37% higher than its earlier plan of VND58.606 trillion.

EVN estimates its average power price at VND1,060/kWh in the first ten months of this year, which is VND2.5/kWh higher than the government’s decision of VND1,058/kWh.

With the higher power selling price, the group is expected to rake in hundreds of billions of dong this year based on a forecast power output 2010 of nearly 100 billion kWh.

The national power leakage rate is forecast to reach up to 10.25% this year, which would be 0.78% higher than the full-year target and 0.86% higher than a year earlier.

EVN expects to float the electricity price next year.
