Vietnam Construction Sector Invests VND6.354T in 40 Power Projects
Vietnam’s construction sector has invested a combined VND6.354 trillion (US$343.85 million) in 40 power projects to date.
Companies operating in the sector had invested a combined VND5.4 trillion in electricity projects last year, the Ha Noi moi newspaper reported Monday, citing the Ministry of Construction.

Song Da Corp. tops the list for having invested in 16 power projects and preparing for six others.
Almost all projects are on schedules, including Xekaman 3, Xekaman 1, Nam Chien, Binh Dien, and Dakr Tih.
Industrial Park & Urban Development Corporation (Idico) and its partners are speeding up preparations to build a plant in Cambodia.
Vietnam’s total power output in 2009 rose 14.18% from a year earlier to 84.75 billion kWh, including 57.09 billion kWh produced by EVN and 27.66 billion kWh bought from domestic and foreign sources.
This year, the nation’s total power output is forecast to rise 14.47% on-year to 97 billion kWh, including 64 billion kWh produced by EVN and 33 billion kWh bought from domestic and foreign sources.
Vietnam may lack least 1,412 MW this year due to stagnant construction of many power projects. Among a total of 40 underway power projects in the country, at least ten are between three months and nine months behind schedules, according to a recent report by the government inspectorate.
