Vietnam completes Trans-Mountain tunnel
The longest trans-mountain tunnel in Vietnam with a total length of nearly 10km at Nam Chien 1 Hydropower Plant in Son La province has been completed, Vietnam news agency reported Monday.
The work on the Irrigation Tunnel Nam Chien 1 began in 2007, starting in Ngoc Chien commune and finishing in Chieng San commune, Muong La district and was completed on May 8.
Vietnam news agency reported that the Nam Chien 1 Hydropower Plant is located about 40km from Son La Hydropower Plant and costs a total of 600 billion VND (US$31.5 million) to build.
The plant is scheduled to generate power by the end of 2011 with a capacity of 200MW.
