Vietnam Coffee Export Falls 6% in Jan-August

Vietnam is estimated to have earned $1.195 billion from exporting 835,000 tons of coffee in the first eight months of this year, falling 6% and 2% from a year earlier, respectively, the General Statistics Office said.

In Aug, the country exported 85,000 tons for $134 million, compared to 89,000 tons worth $138 million a month earlier.

Local traders currently quoted beans at VND27.7 million a ton, down VND2.4 million compared to several days earlier, due to the price drops in the world market.

On Aug 26, Robusta coffee for delivery in Sept was traded at $1,559 a ton in London market, down $182 a ton from two Aug 24. (GSO)
