Vietnam attends WEF on East Asia 2011

Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat is leading a delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia 2011, which will officially open in Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 12.

The forum is scheduled to discuss regional measures to settle global risks, including global economic imbalance, natural disasters, forest destruction and biodiversity.

The conference will touch upon opportunities and challenges to the region and measures to ensure sustainable food security in terms of politics and environment.

It will also evaluate population-related challenges and regional policies to control food prices, boost private-public partnership and agricultural initiatives.

On June 11, WEF on East Asia held a closed session to discuss how to promote the initiative “new vision on agriculture in East Asia”.

The same day, Minister Phat met with his Indonesia counterpart Suswono and Unilever group’s CEO Pauman. – VOV
