Vietnam Airlines adds new services to Burma

Vietnam Airlines has introduced new direct flights three times a week between HCM City and Rangoon (officially Yangon) in Burma, aimed at increasing the level of tourism to the entire Indochina region.

The new services complement flights between Hanoi and Rangoon introduced by the airline in March last year.

“These new flight routes will help open Burma to more tourism,” Vietnam Airlines sales and marketing executive Madeline Spielman said. “It now means visitors can fly direct from Australia to Vietnam and have excellent connections to Cambodia, Laos and now Burma. Passengers can connect in HCM City to Rangoon then fly from Yangon to Hanoi without backtracking.”

The three HCM City to Rangoon flights (VN705) operate on Sundays, Mondays and Fridays with the return flights (VN704) operating on the same days. The five weekly Hanoi to Rangoon flights (VN701) operate on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with the return flights (VN700) also operating on the same days. Vietnam Airlines has five services a week ex-Sydney and five services a week ex-Melbourne to HCM City.
