Vietnam’s investment in Cambodia doubles in 2011
There have been total around 100 Vietnamese projects amounting to the registered capital of $2.1 billion in Cambodia so far, the Saigon Economic Times Online posted, citing report of Foreign Investment Department under Ministry of Planning and Investment.
In 2011 alone, total committed capital of Vietnamese companies in Cambodia will have reached over $1 billion, a two fold increase against 2010. Now Cambodia is the second among more than 55 nations and territories where Vietnamese enterprises are investing in. Vietnam is the third largest investor in the neighbouring country, after China and Thailand.
Vietnam’s investment to Laos and Cambodia this year continued increasing highly, accounting for over 50% of total abroad investment of Vietnam. Currently Vietnamese companies had over 200 projects worth $3.3 billion in Laos.
In first 11 months of 2011, Vietnam invested about $500 million in Laos, up 15% year on year. Laos is top recipient of Vietnam’s overseas investment.
Majority of Vietnam’s investment projects in Laos and Cambodia is in fields of forestry, agriculture, energy, mining, telecommunication, banking…In which, some large-scaled projects in Laos will be able to be operational in 2012.
Big Vietnamese investors in Laos and Cambodia included Viettel Group, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group (Vinacomin), Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL), Saigon Invest Group. – Vietbiz24
