Vietnam’s 11-month export to Myanmar surges 99% to $65m
Vietnam-Myanmar trade is estimated to have reached $135 million during the first 11 months of 2011, growing by 47.8% against the year earlier, according to Myanmar Customs Department.
In which, Vietnam’s export to Myanmar was $65 million, rising by 99% and its import from Myanmar surged 19.3% to $70 million.
In 11 months, Vietnam is the 14th exporter of Myanmar, after Singapore, China, Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, India, US, Germany, France, Australia and Switzerland.
Vietnam’s major export items are steel, materials for garment, fertilizer, drugs and medical equipments, electronics, construction materials, tires, plastic, machinery components and motorbikes.
Meanwhile, Vietnam is the 11th importer from Myanmar, mainly agricultural products, seafood, timber and forestry products, small steel wires.
Compared with October, November price of rice rose 1.5%, coffee +1.75%, tea +3.2%, rubber +7.2%, pepper +2.4%, yellow corn +3.6%, onion +5%, crab +25.6%, and cement +1.9%. – Vietbiz24
