Vietnam’s 10 best selling SUV/MPV’s

Nearly 24,000 multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) and sport utility vehicles (SUV) were sold in Vietnam in 2010.

These figures promise more positive sales for 2011.

Currently, 11 joint ventures among 17 members of Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) produce and assemble 25 different MPV and SUV models with most brands from Japan and South Korea.

Truong Hai which specialises in producing and assembling automobiles for Kia, has contracts for five models of Soul, Carens, Carnival, Sorento and Sportage.

The following is a list of the top ten best selling models of MPV/SUVs in Vietnam last year.

1. Toyota Innova

Sales: 7,419 units of classes V, G, J, and GSR

Prices: Between VND579 million ($28,950) and VND753 million ($37,650)

2. Toyota Fortuner

Sales: 6,551 units of two classes, G and V

Price: VND784 million ($39,200) and VND944 million ($47,200)

3. Kia Carens

Sales: 2,585 units of the 1.6 LX, 2.0MT and 2.0AT classes

Prices: VND475 million ($23,750) and VND540 million ($27,000)

4. Ford Everest

Sales: 2,311 units of 4x4MT, 4×2 MT and 4×2 AT classes

Prices: VND739 mililon ($36,950) and VND896 ($44,800)

5. Honda CR-V

Sales: 1,313 units of the 2.4 AT

Prices: VND1.007 billion ($50,350)

6. Ford Escape

Sales: 965 units between two classes, 4×2 XLS and 4.4 XLT

Prices: VND690 milion ($34,500) and VND768 million ($38,400)

7. Mitsubishi Zinger

Sales: 730 units in the classes of GL, GLS MT and GLS AT

Prices: VND550 million ($27,500) and VND665 million ($33,250)

8. Chevrolet Captiva

Sales: 651 units of LT D, LT G, LTZ-D and LTZ-G classes

Prices: VND676 million ($33,800)-VND739 million ($36,950)

9. Nissan Livina

Sales: 468 units in two classes 1.8 MT and 1.8 AT

Prices: VND611 million ($30,550) and VND658 million ($32,900)

10. Kia Sorento

Sales: 380 units of classes 4×2 AT, 4×2 MT, 4×4 AT and 4×4 MT

Prices: VND870 million ($43,500) and VND912 milion ($45,600) – Dan Tri
