Vietnam’s coffee export estimated to reach $1.5b in Jan-Apr

Vietnam earned $1.5 billion from coffee export during the first four months of this year, jumping 128.9 percent against the same period of 2010, according to data of General Department of Customs.
However, the volume of exported coffee only grew 47.5 percent year on year to 698,318 tons, higher than $1.39 billion and $650,000 tons expected by the General Statistic Office.

In April alone, the coffee export reached 126,187 tons for $302 million, down 21.4 percent and 17.2 percent respectively compared to March.

Thus, Jan-Apr coffee export meets 58.2 percent of the whole year’s plan and coffee became the fastest growing export item of Vietnam in the reporting period, followed by rice +45.2 percent, vegetable +44.7 percent.
