Tourism Projects Attractive to Investors

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said, as of November 2009, Vietnam attracted 31 investment projects worth nearly US$5 billion in the accommodation and restaurant sector. Eight other projects valued at US$3.8 billion have also registered for the local tourism sector.
Despite economic difficulties, tourism investment in the tourism industry has remained exciting. The total investment in the sector accounts for 44.7 % of Vietnam’s total FDI capital.
According to the VNAT, by November 2009, Vietnam was home to around 10,900 lodgements with 215,000 rooms. Among those, 315 are hotels and resorts of from three to five stars with more than 33,600 rooms. The country welcomed only 3.8 million of international visitors in 2009, down 11.5 % on-year, but it saw an on-year rise of domestic travellers to 25 million.
