Top Ten Vietnamese Firms 2009 Announced: Report

Vietnam Report and VietnamNet newspaper on November 25 announced a report on the top ten Vietnamese companies and the ranking of 500 local top firms (VNR500) in 2009.

They are the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), Vietnam National Petroleum Corp. (Petrolimex), the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN), Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil), Viettel and Vinashin Business Group.

The companies earned revenue of over US$1 billion each and accounted for 10% of the country’s state budget collection in 2008.

The VNR500 report, modeled after Fortune 500’s ranking, surveyed business results of 10,000 biggest businesses nationwide which had minimum revenue of VND450 billion last year.

State-owned corporations make up 46.4% of the companies listed in the VNR500 ranking.
