Third Ben Tre Coconut Festival to be held in April

A press conference was held in HCM City on February 22 to introduce the third Coconut Festival to be held in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre from April 5 – 10, 2012.

The event, themed “Ben Tre on the right track of integration and development,” will attract the participation of other provinces which produce coconut products, as well as coconut processing businesses in the Asian Pacific Coconut Community (APCC).

The festival includes diverse activities such as an exhibition showcasing coconut products, a High Quality Vietnamese Goods Trade Fair, a seminar on improving the value of coconut products from now till 2015 with orientations to 2020, and a design contest for handicraft products made from coconuts.

Coconut products make up 25 percent of total industrial production value in Ben Tre province, and 40 percent of its export turnover. Ben Tre coconut products have been exported to more than 50 nations and territories in the world. – VOV
