Tech park partners ink $25m deal

The Binh Duong branch of Maritime Commercial Bank signed on Monday a credit contract worth US$25million with the Ascendas-Protrade Ltd Co to develop the first two stages of the Ascendas – Protrade (AP) Singapore Tech Park in Binh Duong Province.

The preliminary works for the phasescovering 150ha of the total 500 had been completed and infrastructure construction was expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year and complete by 2011, Han Ann Foong, general director of Ascendas – Protrade Ltd Co, said

The tech park in Ben Cat District’s An Tay Commune, also welcomed major investors from Japan, Singapore and the US.

The project will provide a modern, efficient and high quality business space ideally suited to businesses in light and clean industries such as food, beverage, precision engineering, electronics, healthcare and pharmaceutical. It would provide 40,000 jobs, contribute to economic growth and enhance the social welfare of the local community in Binh Duong Province, an Ascendas representative said.

The US$150 million AP Singapore Tech Park aimed to set a benchmark for future IT parks with environment friendly and sustainable features, the representative said.

The 500-ha project is part of the new 1,350ha An Tay Industry and Service Complex, an integrated township that will incorporate residential and recreational facilities. — VNS
