Support industries to get a boost

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) will submit a plan to develop support industries to the Prime Minister.

In addition, the ministry will liaise with Japan to put into action the joint Vietnamese and Japanese initiative programme on the development of support industries.

The MoIT said that currently support industries have not kept pace with the economy’s demands. This is one of factors that has caused the trade deficit and make the country less attractive to foreign investors.

Vietnam’s support industries include sectors that produce raw materials, components and spare parts. These in turn support industries such as garments, footwear, electronics, information technology, automobile manufacturing and assembly, motorbike and mechanics.

However, due to the lack of capital and technologies, the assembly industries developed ahead of support industries.
