Steel billet price slightly reduces
Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) announced on May 4 that the offered steel billet price for some steel makers seemed to slightly drop by $10-15 per tonne in comparison with that in mid-April and stayed at $640-650 per tonne.
According to explanation from the association, the reduction in steel billet price partly resulted from the cautiousness of the steel makers when signing new contracts. At present, the stockpiled steel billet volume for production activities in May 2010 among VSA’s members was estimated at 490,000 tonnes and the stored steel products of 290,000 tonnes. Therefore, the steel supplies for the market remained stable.
