Siemens, Enfinity, JPMorgan to Build US$2.4B Wind, Solar Power Plant in Vietnam

Siemens AG of Germany, Enfinity Group of Belgium, and JPMorgan Chase of the U.S. are seeking a suitable position to build a US$2.4-billion wind and solar power plant in Vietnam’s central province of Khanh Hoa.

The plan was mentioned at a meeting on May 24 among three groups and the provincial authorities.

Currently, these foreign investors are conducting surveys on five areas in Van Ninh and Cam Lam districts and Cam Ranh Township to build the plant.

Vietnam boasts a huge potential to develop solar and wind energies. The country has up to between 2,000 hours and 2,500 hours of sunshine a year while as much as 8.6% of its total area is suitable for developing wind energy.
