Sep 15: Vietnam stocks close mixed on further profit taking

Vietnamese stocks closed mixed today as investors booked profit after recent hefty gain, but heavy weighs buoyed the southern bourse.

The benchmark VN Index added 3.68 points, or 0.78%, to end at 470.67. Volume fell 13.3% to 70.6 million shares worth VND1.28 trillion including 14.3 million shares worth VND333.7 billion changed hands in the put-through deals. Though volume eased today, it stayed at high level.

Some analysts closed their BUY recommendation and stayed on the sidelines, however, some other including Do Linh Phuong, an analyst with Vietinbank securities believed there have not yet SELL signals.

VN Index opened in the red with 3.3 million shares traded. The trading was good, liquidity stayed at high level as buyers and sellers were both active. The index managed to move out the negative ground supported by heavy weighs such as BVH, MSN, FPT which closed at the ceiling prices, however, the broad market was still at loss.

The market breath today was negative, among 300 shares listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 71 -163 and 57 stocks unchanged. As many as 53 stocks fell to the floor while 21 issues hit the ceiling, 5% each side.

Heavy weighs were weaker than broad market. Among10 market caps, 2 gained, 4 lost and 4 unchanged.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) was the most active stock with 2.5 million shares traded, closing up 1.9% to VND21,000

Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was in the second place with 2 million shares traded, closing down 1.3% to VND14,800.

Sacom Development and Investment Corporation (SAM) ranked third with 1.9 million shares traded, up 1.4% to VND7,500.

Petrovietnam – Idico Long Son Industrial Park Investment JSC. (PXL) followed in the list with 1.8 million shares traded, closing up 3.9% to VND5,400.

Pha Lai Thermal Power JSC. (PPC) was in the last in the top 5 active list with 1.6 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND8,100.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed down 0.96 point or 1.24% to close at 76.37. Trading volume fell 31.8% to 62.3 million shares traded for VND695.75 billion of which 2.3 million shares worth VND76.4 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.

Market breadth was broadly negative with 61 gainers, 246 losers and 23 flat issues and 61 untraded. Among top 10 market cap stocks 1 gained, 9 fell.

Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 6.4 million shares traded, closing down 2.3% to VND12,600 on average.

VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was in the second place with 3.9 million shares traded, losing 4.6 % to VND12,600 on average.

PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) ranked third in the list with 3.7 million shares traded, closing down 3.1% to VND12,600 on average. – Stoxplus.com
