Second phase of Tan Cang-Cai Mep port to be put into operation later this year

A leader of Tan Cang Saigon Co has revealed to Dau Tu’s reporter that by the end of December 2010, the second phase of Tan Cang-Cai Mep port project would be put into operation. With the coverage area of 40 hectares, including a long harbour of 600 metres, a container warehouse and modern traffic road system, the port can receive the carriers with loading capacity of 110,000 tonnes.

The construction started late 2008, and up to now, 80 percent of the construction works has been completed. The total investment capital for this project was estimated at $196 million, in which the investment capital for infrastructure facilities accounted for $97.6 million.

As agreed, Tan Cang Co will make investment for infrastructure facilities, and then allow the joint ventures for leasing. The joint ventures will invest additional uploading equipment, IT and port management system. – Dau tu
