SBV, ADB discuss second loan for Mong Duong thermo power plant

Lately, permanent vice prime minister Nguyen Sinh Hung approved SBV’s proposal of negotiating with Asian Development Bank (ADB) about borrowing agreement and documents relating to the second loan for building Mong Duong I thermo power plant project.

On October 9, 2007, State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and director of ADB in Vietnam signed a frame support agreement worth $931 million to Mong Duong I following the first loan of $28 million.

The plant is a part of Mong Duong thermo power centre including Mong Duong I and II.

Vietnam is one of six countries receiving the clean energy investment funding of $1 billion from ADB.

In 2005 and 2006, ADB financed Northern Power Transmission Project and Expanded Northern Power Transmission Project with corresponding capital of $120 million and $360 million.
