Sales of card users in Vietnam reach over 600tr dong

Up to 49 institutions issued total nearly 32 million cards with more than 200 varying kinds of card brands by the end of 2010, Nguyen Thu Ha-Chairman of Vietnam Bank Card Association reported at the 15-year anniversary of its establishment and its annual conference.

The association now has 36 member banks who almost are card business banks in Vietnam and account for 95 percent of card market share.

Banks also strengthened the expansion of card payment service supply network with 12,000 ATMs and 52,000 POS with total card sales of more than 600 trillion dong.

According to the association, 40 percent of Vietnamese population so far are in working age group and using banking services, marking the strong point that card services brought to commercial banks’ operation. – Vietbiz24
