Quang Ninh tests steel laminating plant

Cai Lan-Vinashin Steel Co. and Cuu Long Vinashin Steel Co. on January 16 successfully tested their 1 million-ton laminating steel plant, Cai Lan, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province.

The VND2.9 trillion plant produces steel sheets used for shipbuilding. Its products are expected to meet domestic and international technical standards of the shipbuilding industry.

The plant is also expected to help Vietnamese shipbuilders take more initiative in producing materials and fortify their competitiveness, as steel will not have to be imported when building large ships.

The plant’s first products will be finished on March 30 this year.
