PTSC Launches Chim Sao Wellhead Platform Jacket

At PTSC downstream port in the southern city of Vung Tau, the PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) loaded out the Chim Sao wellhead platform (WHP) jacket and the Su Tu Den (Black Lion) Northeast WHP topsides and laid the keel for PTSC-03 vessel. On this occasion, PTSC solemnly organised a ceremony to declare the Chim Sao WHP jacket as a response to the Party Congress.

PTSC Launches Chim Sao Wellhead Platform Jacket

The Chim Sao WHP jacket, the biggest of its kind in Vietnam, is an important work in the first phase of a comprehensive development plan of Chim Sao and Dua fields owned by the Premier Oil Company at Block 12W in Nam Con Son Basin, offshore Vung Tau. This is the biggest engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) project in Vietnam that PTSC Mechanical and Construction Company (PTSC MC) has won at the international bidding.

Following the launching, the nearly 4,000 tonne complex jacket is set to be installed offshore on April 1, using entirely domestic resources.

This major complex EPCI project is a technological challenge. The installation and launch are completed in 24 months and the work to be done includes design, procurement, fabrication, installation, connection and offshore trial run. Until now, PTSC has ensured the project safe and sound.

Besides, PTSC also fabricated the 2,200 tonne Su Tu Den Northeast WHP topsides for Cuu Long Joint Operating Company. The corporation installed, examined and test-ran the entire facility and associated technological system. This is one of major EPCI projects PTSC did in 2009.

The Su Tu Den Northeast WHP topsides was kicked off in February 2008. The underwater wellhead platform and pipelines were installed in the Block 15.1 in late 2009. The WHP topsides were completed and launched on March 19, 2010 as pledged with the investor.

On the same day, the corporation conducted a keel laying for PTSC-03 vessel at the PTSC downstream port. The vessel is part of a US$22 million project to build and operate PTSC-02 and PTSC-03 vessels to serve the operation of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery. Once completed, the 4,750HP vessel, with a tugging force of 64 tonnes, will be used to cope with oil spills for the Dung Quat oil refinery in Quang Ngai province.
