Piaggio opens production plant in Vinh Phuc Province

Piaggio Viet Nam on Wednesday launched its second production facility worth US$40 million in northern Vinh Phuc Province with plans to raise production from 100,000 to 300,000 units a year by 2012.

The 20,000 square metre factory is expected to create jobs for 1,000 qualified staff.

“The project is to satisfy increasing demand for scooters,” said Costantino Sambuy, Piaggio Viet Nam’s president.

The first Piaggio Viet Nam factory was completed in June 2009, with an investment capital of $30 million.
