Phu Yen to host national tourism year 2011

Phu Yen province will host the National Tourism Year programme which will take place in eight cities and provinces in the south-central coastal region, starting from Danang city to Binh Thuan province.

The programme’s organizing board said at a press briefing on Dec. 12 that the opening ceremony of the event is scheduled to take place in Tuy Hoa city, the central province of Phu Yen on April 1, 2011 to mark the 400th anniversary of the province’s establishment.

Over 30 cultural, sport and tourism events including an Asian music festival, an international choir festival, a fireworks display contest, a yacht racing, and the Vietnam-RoK cultural exchange will be held within the framework of the programme.

Phu Yen authorities have asked Vietnam Airlines to increase flights from Tuy Hoa to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to serve the event.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, deputy head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism’s Department for Tourism Market, said that the promotion of the southern central region as a tourist destination is underway in many countries around the world.- Vietnam Plus
