PetroVietnam speeds up implementation progress for ongoing power projects

Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has lately concentrated on pushing up the implementation process of ongoing power projects under the general power development plan No 4.

At present, the group focused on carrying out Nhon Trach 2 thermo power plant project with the purpose of putting the first turbine into operation in December 2010, about two months earlier than the plan. In addition, the other thermo power plant projects of Thai Binh 2, Long Phu 1 were being implemented in right pace.

If the prime minister approves the investment plan for these two projects, PetroVietnam can start construction work in December 2010, instead of in 2011 as planned. The large group also plans to sign the coal sales contracts with other partners for setting up coal standby sources when these power plants are put into operation.
