PetroVietnam Power to produce 12.5 billion kWh in 2011

PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) has set a goal of producing 12.5 billion kWh by the end of 2011, contributing to reducing the electricity shortage in the country.

Accordingly, PV Power will continue to run safely three thermal power plants: Ca Mau 1, Ca Mau 2 and Nhon Trach 1, and put into operation three new projects, including Nhon Trach 2 with capacity of 750MW, Nam Cat with 3.2MW, and Phu Quy with 6MW to diversify its energy source.

Apart from producing electricity, PV Power invests over VND7 trillion into key thermal power projects: Thai Binh 2, Hua Na and Dakdrinh, and prepares for receiving Vung Ang 1 coal thermal power plant in order to ensure the fast rate of progress and quality of the project.

Following the corporation’s strategy, its power capacity will gain 9,000MW by 2015, contributing about 45 billion kWh (20 percent) to the national electricity supply. – VOV
