Oct 11: Vietnam stocks close mixed, caution prevails

Vietnamese stocks continued to closed mixed today when VN Index sled but HNX eked out gain, caution was there on lack of supporting news.

The benchmark VN Index added 1.93 points, or 0.45%, to end at 417.73. Volume rose 26.4% to 28.8 million shares worth VND443.9 billion including 5.7 million shares worth VND104.38 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.

There was a doldrums of market moving news today. VN Index extended rising momentum to open in the green with over 1 million shares traded. Selling pressure was still there while buyers were cautious. The market soon fell into the negative ground and closed at the low of the day.

The market breath today was negative, among 301 shares listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 112-95 and 78 stocks unchanged. As many as 23 stocks fell to the floor while 16 issues hit the ceiling, 5% each side.

Among top 10 market caps, 1 gained, 1 unchanged, 8 lost.

For the active players, Becamex Infrastructure Development JSC. (IJC) was the most active stock with 2.1 million shares traded, closing down 4.1% to VND11,600.

Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was in the second place with 1.4 million shares traded, closing down 4.8% to VND12,000.

Licogi 16 JSC. (LCG) ranked third with 1.3 million shares traded, closing down 1.6% to VND12,400.

Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (EIB) stayed in the fourth place with 0.8 million shares traded, closing down 0.6% to VND15,800.

Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank or Sacombank (STB) was in the last in the most active list with 0.8 million shares traded, closing down 0.7% to VND14,400.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX bucked trend to close up 0.47 point or 0.67% to close at 70.93. Trading volume inched up 0.8% to 25 million shares traded for VND252.5 billion of which 2.6 million shares worth VND24.78 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.

Market breadth was positive with 123 gainers, 95 losers and 90 flat issues and 85 untraded. Among top 10 market caps, 8 gained and 2 unchanged.

Saigon – Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) was the most active stock with 2.1 million shares traded, closing up 5.4% to VND7,800 on average.

Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was in the second place with 2 million shares traded, closing up 0.8% to VND11,500 on average.

VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) ranked third in the list with 1.5 million shares traded, closing up 0.9% to VND11,300 on average.
