New air terminal inaugurated in Central Highlands

A new terminal at Buon Ma Thuot Airport in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak was inaugurated at a ceremony on December 24.

The 7,200m2 terminal, capable of receiving one million passengers per year, was invested at VND221 billion.

The new facility can handle four Airbus A321 flights and up to 400 passengers an hour at peak times.
It is designed to be environmentally friendly, make use of natural light, and save energy. It is equipped with modern flight information and screening systems to facilitate check-in procedures, as well as elevators, a trade centre, power supply station, water waste treatment plant and car parks.

Buon Ma Thuot Airport has recently achieved a high annual growth rate of over 40 percent and served more than 420,000 passengers in 2011. It currently handles four daily flights to and from HCM City, two flights to and from Hanoi and one to and from Da Nang.

There are five flights between Buon Ma Thuot and HCM City on Fridays and Saturdays. – VOV
