NBRS to be a beacon of light for businesses

A new version of the national business registration information system (NBRS) will help businesses significantly save time in dealing with administrative procedures, while easing the huge workload at local business registration departments.

Deputy head of the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Business Registration Division Bui Anh Tuan tells VIR why.

What advantages does the new version have?

The new NBRS version was developed based on practical inputs from different stakeholders after around six months the system was enforced. A number of shortcomings exposed during enforcement were addressed in the new version.

Particularly, the new version will revise some principal functions in business registration to make the process more simplified, while easing the huge workload often seen at business registration departments in areas accommodating a vast number of enterprises.

For example, in Ho Chi Minh City where 650 enterprise records are handed in every day, each staff only has 32 seconds for filing a record. Now, we strive to further shorten the process. Saving just five seconds is of great significance in areas with large numbers of enterprises embracing business registration.

Besides, the system will be designed in a way to facilitate business information tracing process to avoid businesses being required to go back and forth just to supplement information.

The whole business registration process will be put under close supervision to ensure revisions would be made in a timely manner to ensure highest efficiency. Our top objective is to have in place a system perfectly fit actual development conditions either in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City or areas which still report a modest number of businesses such as Soc Trang, Tra Vinh and Yen Bai.

Operating the NBRS system in areas with a huge number of businesses is often more complex, for example checking an enterprise’s identity. Is this the case?

The name of enterprises must not overlap

It is not too difficult to detect enterprises’ overlapped names as the system’s current functions are within reach to do that.

However, the new version is added with the smart check function which is based on more flexible criteria. For example, when checking the name of an enterprise, the user will find the job much simple if he/she uses some key words in searching.

Could the new NBRS system radically settle all problems relevant to an enterprise’s name?

From the part of the Business Registration Division, we will try our best to support fellow provincial departments in addressing problems relevant to enterprise naming.

For example, under current regulations the name of an enterprise must not carry the words or signs violating the national historical and culture tradition and ethnic standards.
