Nation to boost commercial relations with Uzbekistan

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on Tuesday said that Viet Nam-Uzbekistan Business Forum was a good chance for the two countries’ enterprises to exchange information and boost their co-operation.

The Deputy Prime Minister made this statement while attending the forum with the participation of 200 enterprises.

Hai said that the two countries’ leaders also took the forum as a chance to listen to their enterprises’ opinions about the business and investment environment.

He said that trade relations between the two countries had yet to meet their potential, while Viet Nam and Uzbekistan both had dynamic economies that had a lot of room for co-operation in the fields of oil exploration, agriculture, food processing, craft making, garment and electronics equipment.

When doing business in Viet Nam, Uzbek enterprises would have the chance to access an 87 million-person market and other larger markets thanks to free trade agreements between ASEAN-China, ASEAN-Japan and ASEAN-South Korea, he said.

Uzbek Minister of Economy Aliser Shaikhov said that Uzbekistan had experience in the minerals and textile sector. He also mentioned that the country had a need for agricultural and industrial products, so the two countries’ enterprises can co-operate in these fields.

At the forum, the list of the two countries’ projects, which were calling for investment, was publicised and many agreements were signed.
