More than $1 billion for expressway in Central Highlands

The Ministry of Transport will try to complete a plan for the Dau Giay-Da Lat expressway in the central highland province of Lam Dong as soon as possible, with capital mobilized from various sources.

The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai during a meeting with authorities of Lam Dong province on June 22.

Mr Hai said that in 2011, the government will prioritize investment in National Highway No 20 that links HCM City and Da Lat and National Highway No 27 that links Lam Dong and Dak Lak.

In addition, the Ministry of Transport will work with the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam to launch air routes from Da Lat to Siem Reap and Singapore at the earliest possible time.

At the meeting, Deputy PM Hai highlighted the province’s recent quick growth but also pointed out its poor infrastructure as a main barrier to attracting investment projects.
