More than 1.1tr dong to upgrade 20 weak bridges on NR 1A

Under the program of improvement and upgrading for National Road (NR) network, the Ministry of Transport plans to invest more than 1.115 trillion dong to replace 20 weak bridges on NR 1A in nine provinces, and the construction is expected to complete from 2011-2014.
Accordingly, nine provinces include Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Tien Giang and Kien Giang.

Deputy director of Tien Giang Department of Transport, Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy said the province has three of 20 weak bridges on NR 1A needed to be replaced urgently including Kenh Xang (Chau Thanh district) and Tra Lot and Co Co (Cai Be district).

The investment capital for the program will be raised from various sources: loans from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and corresponding budget within the framework of credit project in the transport field invested by the Vietnam Road Administration.
