Ministry Seeks OK for VND4.8T Infrastructure Project

The Ministry of Transport is seeking the Vietnamese government approval to carry out an infrastructure project worth VND4.8 trillion ($252.36 million) under the form of build-operate-transfer (BOT) in Mekong Delta.

The ministry also asked the government to appoint Rach Mieu Bridge BOT Co., Ltd and some foreign and domestic investors to take over the project.

The project includes a 1.6-km Co Chien bridge that will connect Vinh Long and Tra Vinh provinces and two roads with a combined length of 15.7 kilometers. The cable-stayed bridge of Co Chien will cost VND3.8 trillion.

Once completed, the bridge is expected to cut time from Ho Chi Minh City to Tra Vinh to 70 kilometers and help to ease traffic jams in the locality.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung recently asked the Mekong Delta to further focus on infrastructure to boost socio-economic development in the region.
