Joint contractors to provide equipment to Huoi Quang hydroelectric power plant

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) on March 30 signed a contract with joint contractors Tianjin Alstom Hydro and Hydrochina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation to provide electro-mechanical equipment and technical services to the Huoi Quang hydroelectric power plant project.

The US$ 65,233,446 contract is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). The EVN is the main investor with total investment capital of VND11,772,994 billion.

Huoi Quang hydroelectric power plant – the country’s third largest underground construction work, is located in Chieng Lao commune, Muong La district, in the northern province of Son La. It has a design capacity of 520 MW including two turbines and expects to generate roughly 1.904 billion kwh annually.

The first turbine of the plant is expected to generate electricity on December 31, 2014 while the second turbine in April 30, 2015.

This is the fourth largest hydroelectric power plant in the northern region after Son La, Hoa Binh and Lai Chau plants. – VOV
