Jewellery, watch expo opens in HCM City

The eighth international jewelry and watch exhibition opens in HCM City today offering a valuable opportunity for foreign and domestic businesses to explore latest product designs and identify suppliers and buyers.

The four-day event brings together watchmakers and goldsmiths from different countries and territories around the world including Italy, Japan, Turkey, Hong Kong, Thailand, the United States, mainland China, India and Israel.

The latest models of wristwatches, wedding jewelry, necklaces and bracelets and various kinds of gem stones including diamonds, sapphires, rock crystal, citrine and tourmaline will be showcased at the exhibition.

Participating in the event are leading diamond and jewelry firms including Golden Master, Good Way, Abba, AP Creations, Fast East, Yue Creations, Fu Shing, Arpas, Lara, Apple Green Diamond, Diasource, Blue Diam and Nasaa Gems.

BK Chow, director of World Trade Fair Ltd, said Viet Nam had been recognised as a middle-income nation and the number of high and middle-income earners had increased rapidly.

He said Viet Nam’s economic growth had been most prominent in major urban centers such as HCM City, Ha Noi and Binh Duong, where the middle and upper classes represented almost 50 per cent of the urban population. They had become much more aware and appreciative of luxury items, with a higher focus on quality and craftsmanship.

“The most attractive aspect of Viet Nam’s jewelry market is its huge young population, who like and easily accept jewelry with modern designs. The Vietnamese people highly appreciate diamond and gold and tend to prefer designs with Asian features,” he said.

Bui Thi Thuc Anh, director of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Exhibition Service Ltd Co added that the growing wealthier and savvier consumer base in Viet Nam had provided strong synergies for the development of jewelry market.

The exhibition will remain open at the Tan Binh Exhibition and Convention Center in HCM City until next Monday.

It is being organized by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Exhibition Service Ltd Co in coordination with the World Trade Fair Ltd of HongKong. — VNS
