Japan firm breaks ground for $100 Mln plywood plant
Vina Eco Board Co Ltd, a subsidiary of the Japan-based Sumitomo Forestry Group, has broken ground for a $100 million plywood plant in Ho Chi Minh City’s neighboring Long An Province.

The 20-hectare plant in Phu An Thanh Industrial Park will have an annual processing capacity of 250,000 cubic meters of cajuput, eucalyptus, and other wood.
It is scheduled to go on stream in April 2012.
Sumitomo has 121 affiliates in 67 countries around the world.
In Vietnam, the group has three offices in Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City engaged in varied activities like the import and export of oil, gas, and chemicals and iron and steel manufacture. – Tuoitre
