Investment licences of five steel projects to be revoked

Chair of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province people’s committee has approved for revoking the investment licences of five sluggish steel projects with total designed capacity of 3.7 million tonnes of steel products per year and 1.5 million tonnes of steel billet per year. The list of delayed projects to be withdrawn investment licences will be announced in the coming few days.

According to the statistics, among 18 steel projects had been granted investment licences in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province so far, of which 10 projects were already completed the legal procedures for construction, two projects were being carried out, four projects have not yet been kicked off and two projects were in preparation period to apply for investment licences.

Noticeably, there were 10 projects that were not included in the general development plant of Vietnam’s steel industry in the 2007-2015 period that had been approved by the prime minister previously. Some projects that had been granted investment licences in 2007 and 2008 but the construction has not yet been kicked off. – Dautu
