International tourists to Vietnam by air +34.2pct to 4.06m in 2010

Vietnam welcomed more than 4.06 million foreign travellers by air last year, up 34.2 percent from a year earlier, the National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said on its website.

The number accounted for 81.2 percent of the total international tourists to the country in the year, it added.

In December, the Southeast Asia country received 365,070 international visitors by air, up 4.8 percent on month and 19.1 percent on year.

Vietnam’s aviation market has recovered faster than expected thanks to a sharp growth in the number of passengers, said the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), forecasting that the growth would continue in upcoming years. – VCCI
