International construction fair in Hanoi

ConBuild Vietnam 2010, the fourth international fair of its kind, opened in Hanoi on December 1 to display modern machinery, equipment, materials, vehicles, state-of-the-art technology and services related to building.

The four-day event has attracted participation from 200 businesses from many countries such as Germany, China and Singapore. ConBuild also introduces Vietnam’s achievements in industrial construction, civil construction, construction materials, architecture, urban planning and real estate.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tran Nam affirmed the pivotal role of the building industry in the national economy. He said the industry has received great attention from many ministries and sectors as well as a large amount of investment from both domestic and foreign investors.

Mr Nam underlined the huge, increasing demand for construction, saying many large-scale construction projects, including those for making roads and wharves, will begin nationwide in the next few years. – VOV
